THREE WAYS TO EXPLORE THE SMOKIES
Geology. Creation Biology. Appalachian Church History.
TOUR #1
GEOLOGY AND THE BIBLICAL FLOOD
Where did these mountains come from? What is unique about the rock layers in this region, and what story do they tell? What evidence do we have for how old they are? Students will learn about the types of rocks, geological strata and provinces, plate tectonics and continental drift, the local fossil record, and most importantly, how it all affirms the biblical narrative of creation and the global Flood. And they will explore all of this through a hands-on, outdoor adventure in some of the most beautiful landscapes on Earth!
This tour often focuses on the western end of the park along Foothills Drive and typically includes an easy, paved hike up to the Look Rock observation tower, but tour stops and locations are highly customizable depending on your group’s priorities.

TOUR #2
CREATION BIOLOGY AND ECOLOGY
From iconic black bears to common bumble bees, from stunning wildflowers to mundane maple trees, every living thing we see is evidence of the wisdom and power of their Maker. The beautiful and biologically diverse Smoky Mountains become a classroom on Creation as students learn about the sophisticated design of organisms, the brilliant balance within ecosystems, and the testimony of the fossil record, which all point back to the biblical God and the truth of Genesis.
This tour often focuses on the main corridor of the park from Sugarlands to Newfound Gap, with stops at the park’s most breathtaking overlooks, but tour stops and locations are highly customizable depending on your group’s priorities.
TOUR #3
APPALACHIAN CHURCH HISTORY
The Appalachian Mountains have a rich and often untold Christian History. Students will learn how the Bible shaped early pioneer and indigenous communities. They will explore how debates over the biblical accounts of creation and the Flood in Genesis influenced early scientific discovery here, and the role Christian faith played in the founding of the Smoky Mountains as a National Park.
This tour often focuses on Cades Cove and its historical sites, but tour stops and locations are highly customizable depending on your group’s priorities.

TRANSPORTATION IN THE PARK
Groups are responsible for all transportation to the park and during the tour. If you are hiring transportation (such as a coach bus), make sure the transportation company possesses a current Commercial Use Authorization (CUA) permit to enter the park.
