Nate Loper at Desert View Grand Canyon Ministries

Nate  Loper serves as Director of Ministry Outreach and speaker with Canyon Ministries and brings a rare combination of experience to the river. With a background in archaeology and nearly two decades of studying and teaching at the Grand Canyon, he helps you see the canyon through multiple lenses—geology, archaeology, history, and Scripture. His teaching style is engaging and conversational, turning the river corridor, side canyons, and rock layers into a living classroom.

The river corridor is also rich with archaeological history. Along the way, you will explore hidden side canyons and ancient pictographs that reveal how Native peoples lived, traveled, and adapted to this rugged environment. Remnants of these cultures offer fascinating glimpses into the lives of those who once called the canyon home.

Dana Allen Grand Canyon MinistriesCo-leading the trip is Dana Allen, a Canyon Ministries guide and avid Grand Canyon backpacker who knows the canyon from the rim to the river. Dana has spent countless days hiking and exploring its trails, giving her a deep appreciation for the canyon’s landscapes, hidden side canyons, and quiet places that many visitors never see.

Dana brings a steady, adventurous spirit to every trip, along with a love for helping others experience the canyon in a meaningful way. Whether hiking into side canyons, sharing stories from the trail, or enjoying quiet moments along the river, she adds a wonderful blend of experience, enthusiasm, and encouragement to the journey.

Your days will be filled with exciting rapids, short hikes into beautiful side canyons, and time to take in the immense scale of the canyon from below. Evenings bring sandy beach camps, great meals, and relaxed teaching sessions where you will gain deeper insights into the canyon’s geology, archaeology, and the biblical history that frames this incredible landscape.

This 4-day Grand Canyon river trip offers an unforgettable opportunity to experience one of the world’s greatest natural wonders while gaining a deeper understanding of its rocks, history, and people. Adventure, discovery, and meaningful teaching come together for a journey that will change the way you see the canyon forever.
