During times of high community COVID transmission, the park may implement closures and/or the use of facemasks for all public buildings, park shuttles, and tour vehicles, including our own. This may change from week-to-week.
When this requirement is in effect, we will comply with all park regulations concerning COVID mitigation. During such times, the regulations may require that:
- Your guide will be wearing a face covering in environments where social distancing is not possible, and at all times while in a vehicle.
- Guests are required to wear face coverings at all times while inside the vehicle, and may be asked to do so in situations where distancing is not maintainable between groups. Guides will have disposable masks available if you need one.
- All indoor facilities within the Park may require face coverings, regardless of vaccination status. Some crowded outdoor locations may require face coverings as well, as indicated by signage.
- We provide hand sanitizer on every trip. Please use it frequently! Handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds should be done when the facilities are available.
- Practice physical distancing of at least 6 feet away from others not in your own family or group at all possible times.
- Our tour vehicles are disinfected between every tour. We are following cleaning procedure guidance from the CDC and FDA, using safe cleaning agents proven to be effective against the COVID-19 virus.
- Guides presenting symptoms of illness identified as possible COVID-19 symptoms by the CDC are not allowed to conduct tours.
- Guests are asked to arrive for their tour in good health. If you arrive showing symptoms consistent with COVID-19, Canyon Ministries will have to cancel your tour and will offer a refund or voucher for a future visit. Please check the CDC website for symptoms of concern at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html
- The National Park Service may ask Canyon Ministries to cooperate with public health officials should it become necessary to track exposure to a person infected with COVID-19. That means that your contact information may be provided to public health officials where they have the legal authority to request that information to track contagious disease exposure.
We are very fortunate to have been one of the few companies allowed to operate tours in the Grand Canyon National Park during the pandemic-related closures and are partnering with the National Park Service to ensure our guests’ safety and that of others. We understand people have varying opinions on the restrictions and requirements in place during this time, and simply ask everyone to hold true to what Romans 12:10 teaches us, “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”
We know this can be an uncertain time for all. We are available to answer any questions you might have or help you adjust your travel plans to come see this amazing place in God’s great outdoors.
