Full Day Grand Canyon Private Tour
A FULL DAY OF ADVENTURE EXPLORING THE GRAND CANYON!
Experience our most extensive tour of the Grand Canyon South Rim on a CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE private Grand Canyon private tour, where you help shape the day’s itinerary as we go along.
Starting at 8:00 AM in Flagstaff, we will embark on a scenic journey to Grand Canyon National Park. Along the way, we’ll discuss the diverse landscape we traverse, highlighting various plants, animals, and unique geological features.
Upon entering the park, we’ll kick off our morning with an introduction to the canyon’s geology and features, setting the stage for the rest of our adventure. The morning will be filled with hands-on displays and various overlooks, offering different perspectives of the canyon. Afterward, we’ll arrive at the Grand Canyon Village, where you can help decide whether to focus on pioneer history or take a short walk to a hidden fossil bed area for a “sea creature scavenger hunt.” Here, we’ll examine marine fossils, including brachiopods, clams, crinoids, and corals, all while enjoying one of the best views of Bright Angel Canyon in the park.
After lunch, we’ll explore the most scenic overlooks on the canyon’s east side, moving from point to point along Desert View Drive. During this portion of the day, we will emphasize Creation and Flood geology, helping you understand how the layers were deposited and how the canyon was carved. From Desert View, we’ll enjoy wide panoramic views of the distant Marble Platform and Vermillion Cliffs before exiting the park and descending 3,000 feet into the Painted Desert and the lands of the Navajo Nation.
In Cameron, we’ll visit the historic Cameron Trading Post, built in 1916, which offers one of the largest and finest selections of handmade Native art, along with souvenirs related to the Navajo Nation, the Grand Canyon, Route 66, and the American West. As we make our way back to Flagstaff, keep an eye out for Pronghorn antelope grazing on the golden grasslands among the scattered cinder cone volcanoes of the San Francisco Volcanic Field, along with views of Arizona’s highest point, Humphrey’s Peak, standing proudly at 12,633 feet. Our day of adventure will conclude with arriving back at your chosen location, leaving you with new insights into both the science and scripture behind America’s most spectacular natural wonder—the Grand Canyon.
