Grand Canyon, Dinosaur Tracks, Native Ruins Private Tour
A DAY OF DWELLINGS, DINOSAURS, AND A DEEP CANYON!
Combine stunning scenic views, Native ruins, and walk where dinosaurs walked on a CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE private tour of the Grand Canyon, Moenave Dinosaur Tracks, and Wupatki National Monument.
Starting at 8:00 AM in Flagstaff, your day starts with a drive through the lava fields and cinder cones of Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument on our way to visit Wupatki National Monument, home to remarkable pueblos built by Native American communities nearly 1,000 years ago. During this time, we will discuss events like the Tower of Babel, the Ice Age, and the migration of people groups into the Americas. Towering stone structures and sweeping desert views offer a glimpse into the lives of those who called this land home, with time to explore rooms, the ball court, and fascinating relics from a unique culture that thrived in the high desert.
Next, we’ll head into the Painted Desert to the Moenave Dinosaur Tracks near Tuba City. Here, your group will walk among hundreds of dinosaur footprints preserved in the desert landscape. Your guide will offer insights into the formation of these ancient tracks, presenting a perspective grounded in the biblical accounts of Creation and the Flood, providing a window into how these tracks were formed, preserved, and re-exposed to be seen in the present day. Rather than just seeing from a distance or from behind roes like in most museums, you will be able to place your hands inside the very footprints of these dinosaurs!
Around midday, we’ll stop at the historic Cameron Trading Post, where you’ll enjoy fantastic food, including local Southwestern and Navajo cuisine for lunch (cost not included). The Trading Post is an iconic spot to experience Navajo and Hopi art, jewelry, and unique souvenirs, as well as to take in the serene beauty of the Little Colorado River Gorge nearby.
From there, we’ll drive up over 3,000 feet in elevation to the Grand Canyon’s South Rim, where your guide will lead you to stunning overlooks along Desert View Drive. As we stop at some of the canyon’s most spectacular viewpoints, your guide will share the story of the canyon’s formation and geological features in ways that connect with the biblical narrative of a global Flood and the beauty of God’s creation. The awe-inspiring views of the canyon’s depths, coupled with the surrounding colors and textures, offer a powerful reminder of the majesty of our Maker.
After our time at the Grand Canyon, we’ll exit through the park’s southern gate and begin our journey back to Flagstaff. On the way, there will be time for questions and further discussion about everything we’ve explored that day, with a typical return to our starting point around 6:00 PM.
This full-day tour includes engaging storytelling, breathtaking landscapes, and insightful teaching, with all you need for a comfortable experience, including water, snacks, and blankets. Join us to explore Arizona’s treasures in a journey that connects history, geology, and the accounts of Scripture in a memorable adventure through the Southwest.
