The Difference 24 Hours Can Make
I want to tell you about Ron. He came on a 3-day raft trip (which is now our 4-day trip). The first night of the trip he told me something to the effect of “I would really like to believe in a young earth and a global Flood, but to me it seems science has proven otherwise.” My reply was, “Well, keep an open mind and let’s see what you think at the end of the trip.”
The next morning we flew into the canyon by helicopter, saw a fold in the brittle Bright Angel Shale, touched creation rock (that rock which most creation scientists believe to be God originally created rock) and saw the distinct lines between the sedimentary layers of the canyon. We, as a group, talked about radiometric dating, what the Bible says about the Flood, and how what we see in the canyon supports the Scriptures.
That night I gave my testimony and talked about my journey from evolutionist to creationist, and again how the canyon supported what we read in God’s Word. After my testimony, I sat there in the dark until all but one of the group had wondered off to their camps. Just “by chance” that one individual was Ron. So I asked him, “Well, what do you think?” His response after just 24 hours of exposure to the physical evidence laid out for all to see in the canyon was, “I’m convinced…the earth is young and the Bible is true.”
It is so easy to be sucked into the so-called science of the world today, which brings doubt on the Biblical account of earth’s history. But when places like the Grand Canyon are viewed through the lens of Scripture, the scales fall away and the truth of God’s Word is clearly seen.
It happened to Ron in just one day. Join us for a rim tour or river trip this summer and have your faith strengthened by evidence which is so clearly seen, if only you are willing to see it. – Peace, Tom
