You Matter
This is an exciting week for Canyon Ministries. Thursday marks the beginning of our spring board meeting/work weekend. We will begin Thursday evening with supper and a general overview of the incredible favor God has upon us. The remainder of the weekend will include a board members rim tour at the south rim and discussion of the details of the ministry including evaluation and direction. We would appreciate your involvement, because you matter to us. There are three ways we are asking you to participate. 1) Please pray for wisdom,
May it Benefit Those who Listen
Ephesians 4:29 "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." How often in life do you get to say, "Monday was fun!"? Monday, March 24th, 2014 was one of those opportunities for Kathleen and I. We were blessed with guiding a half-day tour at the south rim of the Grand Canyon. One of our stops was at Grandview overlook. As usual, it was quite busy there with
God’s word, our anchor
We just returned from exploring Zion National Park. The swirling cross beds of the Navajo Sandstone are not only beautiful, but speak boldly of an immense amount of water spreading thick layers of sediment across the continent. While standing at Angel's Landing, I was reminded of a simple truth that I pass on to you today. In the midst of the details surrounding the origins discussion, it can be easy to get lost and even carried off by the constant flow of argument and evidence lobbing. God's word

There is still some room left on a raft for you this summer. You can research the river information on our website at www.canyonministries.org and even make your reservation today. Why?
Rafting through the Grand Canyon is unlike anything else you will ever do. Exploring the side canyons unveils new surprises upon each visit. Plunging through the rapids with laughter and cheers is exhilarating. Sleeping on the cot as the heavens dance above you renders you speechless and begs you to stay awake for just one more minute. The people you meet become comrades of adventure and lifelong friends. The magnitude of the rock layers extending a vertical mile into the massive blue sky humbles the independent heart, yet
News, Noise, and Nonsense
Take a moment to Google, Yahoo, or Bing "Creation Science in the news". Search it in your Twitter account and Google+ account. You will find no lack of information. Blogs, tweets, posts, updates, articles, and videos abound. The information age has become information overload. But is it really information? How much of the noise is simply opinionated nonsense? The ease and opportunity of communication via technology has made it possible to casually purport opinion as if they were fact (that's my opinion, at least). The cacophony of messages
The Power of Opposites
These two young men have placed their hands on either side of the great unconformity. In doing so, they have one hand before the Genesis Flood and one after the Genesis Flood. One hand is touching the foundation rock that represents the creative power of God who loved us enough to knit us together in our mother's womb. The other hand is touching the first layer of sediment laid down during the flood representing the wrath of God against sin and yet the mercy of God in preserving
How Well do we Know?
Can you fill in the blanks of these popular advertising slogans? "The best part of waking up is __________ in your cup." "Guts, _____, Ram." "What's in your _______?" Like a good neighbor _______________ is there." Our minds are filled with bits of information that really do us no good at all. How is it that at least 90% of you knew that the answers above were "Folgers", "Glory", "wallet", and "State Farm"? I doubt any one of us ever sat down to memorize the slogans for Folgers, Ram Trucks, Capitol One, or
Genesis and Jesus
In John chapter 5, Jesus is providing powerful testimony to the truth of who He is. He concludes His testimony with words that reveal His opinion of how we are to read and interpret Genesis. John 5:45-47 says, "But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set. If you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me. But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what
Be Prepared to Give an Answer
1 Peter 3:15-16 "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander." Once again, I had the privilege of speaking of God's glory while gazing awestruck into the Grand Canyon. We were standing at Hopi point and enjoying the
