Be Prepared to Give an Answer

1 Peter 3:15-16

“But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.  Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have.  But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.”

Once again, I had the privilege of speaking of God’s glory while gazing awestruck into the Grand Canyon.  We were standing at Hopi point and enjoying the more than 270 degree view of the canyon.  I was specifically explaining 3 geological points powerfully on display before us.  1) The Great Uncomformity; 2) The significance of the Redwall Limestone; and 3) The Amphitheaters.  As I spoke, a crowd began to gather as it appeared to them that I knew what I was talking about (hehe).  I wrapped up the brief instruction by connecting the evidence before us to the Genesis account and quoted a Ken Ham statement I have heard many times; “Isn’t it great being a Christian!  All the evidence fits.” The crowd that had gathered (about 10 additional people) walked away with a new perspective.  It was a perspective they had not heard before.  Most simply walked away and I have no idea what their reaction was.  However, a few paused long enough to express their appreciation and commented how wonderful it was to hear that the Bible is relevant to the canyon.

On February 4th, many will get the opportunity to hear the power of the truth of God’s word.  Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis will be publicly debating Bill Nye.  You can watch this debate  by singing up for the live webcast at www.answersingenesis.org.  It is vital that we are praying over this debate.  We have been called to be prepared to give an answer.  Let us pray that God guides Ken in his preparation.  We are called to present that answer in  a manner that is gentle and respectful.  Let us pray that Ken speaks boldly, yet gentle and respectful.

As for you and I, we too must be ready.  But be encouraged, for God has fully equipped us for all good works. “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.  Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.” 2 Peter 3:3-4

Praiseallujiah!
