God faithfully calls people to join the Canyon Ministries team and brings people who radiate joy and a desire to serve. As executive director of Canyon Ministries, I am blessed to help equip and celebrate others in doing meaningful kingdom work.
I appreciate the words the Apostle Paul spoke to Timothy: “You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2:1–2 (ESV).
A significant piece of the equipping is to ensure our guides are properly resourced for the work we ask them to do. Of course, this includes theological and geological training as well as understanding of the history of Grand Canyon. Some resources are a bit more tangible; in fact, they have four wheels, a motor and a Ford emblem displayed on the hood. Our buses carry our guests to the places where we proclaim the wonders of God. These mobile movers of the masses are vital to our vision.
We are excited to announce the arrival of our 4th bus. This new bus is called, “Legacy.” It serves as a constant reminder of our commitment to leave a legacy of faith for the next generation. Monuments were used in the Bible to help each passing generation remember what God has done so we do not neglect His Word. The rocks of Grand Canyon are a monument to the wonders of God and His heart to redeem mankind.
The “Legacy” bus is capable of serving 13 guests per tour. We offer tours 310 days each year. This means the “Legacy” bus has the potential of caring for 4,030 guests. That’s 4,030 people who will hear and see the wonders of God. Bring on the people! We’re ready!
Jon Albert was the director of Canyon Ministries from 2013 to 2020, and remains part of our development and guide team. His main focus now is on the development of Gloryview Ranch, a Christian retreat in Northern Arizona.
