Faith, Family, Function, and Future
Mather Point I have often used the illustration of a home to discuss the significance of Genesis as the foundation of our life. Today I want to consider what the foundation supports.  In other words, what is depending upon the integrity and strength of the foundation?  The following are 4 pillars rising strong and true from the foundation that define our life.  We earnestly depend upon these pillars moment by moment as they, in turn, deeply depend upon the foundation. FAITH Our relationship with God begins with our creation as described in Genesis
5 Reasons From Genesis to Get Up and Get Going Today!
Winter provides some of the most spectacular views of Grand Canyon! 5 reasons from Genesis to get up and get going today! #5: You are created in the image of the Creator for glory and honor. You are significant! (Genesis 1:26-31) #4: You have a responsibility to creation that you must fulfill.  You are needed! (Genesis 1:26-2:25) #3: You are not perfect and have fallen short, but Christ has defeated our enemy.  You are victorious in Him! (Genesis 3:15) #2: You are of the line of Noah whom God preserved in
Others First
It is nearly midnight and I should be asleep. Â But my mind is not at rest because my heart is burdened. Jesus made a significant request to His Father in the garden the night He was betrayed. "My prayer is not for them alone. Â I pray also for those who believe in me through their message, that they may be one, Father, Just as you are in me and I am in you. Â May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me."
Is That a Fact?
North Rim of Grand Canyon Discerning the difference between what is actually fact and what is interpretation of fact is key to processing the deluge of information flooding our senses every day. I was standing at the rim of Grand Canyon with a group of our guests discussing the relationship between the sedimentary layers in Grand Canyon and the Genesis flood.  As often happens, a gentleman standing nearby was listening to our conversation.  When there was a break in the conversation, he asked a good question. "How can you say that these

4 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind
You have to Look to See
"I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you;" (Job 42:5) A friend recently made a comment to me that has set off a thought barrage akin to a fireworks finale. Â It was a simple statement saturated with significance. Â He said, "I like the way you 'see' things!" Â I responded with, "Amen!!!!! You have to look to see!" The conversation ended there, but the thoughts have rolled like thunder. Â Â To see we must seek. Â Seeking requires time, energy, focus, and the truth
What the Canyon has Taught me (Part Two)
On Monday I began to share with you the significant impact Grand Canyon has had on me.  Today I land that plane and present the top 2 things the canyon has taught me.  But first, a story! In August of 2008, Kathleen and I found ourselves in a helicopter dropping into the greatest canyon in the world. Of course, Kathleen was riding shotgun because Kathleen always has that sort of favor!  The helicopter touched ground with the slightest of bumps and we clamored out with the same grace and ease of
What the Canyon Has Taught Me
Grand Canyon is a unique adventure experience. Â In fact, msn.com recently ranked a river trip through Grand Canyon as one of the top 23Â bucket-list adventures in the world. Â That's high praise with which I would agree (granted there are many adventures I have not embarked upon
The River Didn’t do it
There is not a canyon because there is a river. Â There is a river because there is a canyon. 3 reasons why the Colorado River could not have carved Grand Canyon 1.) The problem of elevation and gravity The headwaters of the Colorado River are at La Poudre Pass Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. Â The elevation of this lake is 9000 feet above sea level. Â Grand Canyon tears open the Kaibab Plateau creating a 10 mile wide chasm running from the East to the West crossing (not following) numerous faults.
