See you in the Canyon

IMG_2410

This picture was taken on a 4-day trip in August of this year.  I am standing next to a large outcropping of travertine which is redeposited limestone that leached out of the layers above.  We are at a place called the Travertine Grotto, one of the treasured stops along the lower part of the river.  I am explaining the hike we are about to commence upon into a grotto (long narrow cave like opening in the canyon walls).  It is a bit of a scamper up a rope ladder, but worth every step.  Once the effort is exerted to reach the end, you are rewarded with a beautiful waterfall within the grotto.  The clean water of the falls provides a delightful time of splashing and photo taking.  The laughter and joy echoes through the grotto and bursts forth as praise to God.  Many people have their picture taken in this place framed and on their wall at home as a reminder of the people they met and the encouragement they received.  You may wonder why I did not provide a picture of the falls in this post.  The answer is this: we would rather experience it with you than simply show you a photo.  See you in the canyon.

Praiseallujiah!
