The People who Serve-Part 5
Dr. Andrew Snelling provides life-changing instruction on every Canyon Ministries Adventure. Click here to watch and listen as Andrew provides a brief (4 min.) description of the formation of Grand Canyon.
Dr. Snelling serves Canyon Ministries in many significant ways. He serves on the Christian Leaders Trip team, guides a 9-day river trip every April, and is an associate board member. Andrew provides countless other actions of encouragement and support to the mission of Canyon Ministries. I have the privilege of joining Andrew on the river beginning April 24, 2015. There are a few seats remaining for this adventure with Andrew and I. We invite you to sign up today at canyonministries.org.
Andrew had the following words of encouragement to share in a recent email.
What verse or passage is God currently impressing upon your heart and how is it making an impact?
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Each of us are uniquely created by God, known by Him from before birth, and called by Him for His purposes to accomplish His will. This gives me an overwhelming sense of purpose in what I am doing and an obligation to do it well, remembering that it is God at work anyway and without Him nothing can be accomplished, so he always should get the credit and the glory.
Why do you participate in Canyon Ministries?
The Grand Canyon is such a unique place and is probably the world’s best geology classroom, so as a geologist I am always eager to visit the canyon, learn more about its geology, and most importantly, teach others about it. Indeed, I never lose the enthusiasm to share the canyon with others to teach them about how its geology provides convincing powerful evidence of God’s judgment by the global Flood, thus vindicating His Word. And Canyon Ministries offers the only opportunity for the canyon to be explored with fellow Christians, and for its geology to be taught from the biblical perspective.
Why should others go on a river or rim tour with Canyon Ministries?
A visit to the Grand Canyon is a must, but doing so with Canyon Ministries is obligatory for Christians, as no other operator at or in the canyon teaches about its geology from a biblical perspective. And on Canyon Ministries trips the Christian fellowship, especially on the river, ends up being almost like a taste of heaven. So many we have shared the canyon with have indicated that their lives have been changed as a result. And a trip to the canyon thus strengthens Christians confidence in God’s Word and thus equips and emboldens them to defend and share their faith.
Psalm 78:72 is always a verse that I connect with Andrew. “With upright heart he shepherded them and guided them with his skillful hand.”
