TOUR DETAILS
Starting approximately 4 hours before sunset, this round-trip walking tour covers up to 2 to 3 miles and begins and ends outside the Yavapai Geology Museum, just west of the Grand Canyon Visitor Center. We start with sweeping views to the east of the park, looking down at Phantom Ranch and the Colorado River.
From there, we walk west along the Trail of Time, which features various examples of the canyon’s layers and geological formations brought up from its depths and placed alongside the trail for a truly hands-on experience. As we journey along, we will transition on and off the Rim Trail for teaching moments and panoramic views of the canyon.
Our tour concludes with a memorable experience watching the sun set in the west, allowing us to end the day at the Grand Canyon with the One who created it.
This walking tour is suitable for all ages. It is handicap and stroller accessible along the paved path but does involve some hills where assistance may be needed.
The sunset walking tour is available Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from May through August, starting approximately 4 hours before sunset. Tours last around four hours, but the total duration may vary based on the sunset time.
Please note that walking tours may not always be feasible due to snow, temperature, and the outdoor nature of this experience. We cannot predict the weather at any time of year, but we will do our best to transition you to a vehicle-based Rim Tour or provide a full refund if we need to cancel a tour due to weather conditions.
Walking tours may also be offered during other times of the year, depending on the weather. Please call our office to book outside our regular operating window.

Featuring multiple three-page foldouts with panoramic photos for each of the major overlooks along both the South and North Rims and a spiral-bound lay-flat design to help you as you go through it, this book will be brought by your guide and given to you at the start of your tour.
