Nate Loper - June 5, 2026   Florida is not a simple one-event landscape. It is more like a layered story. Being in Florida right now sharing about Canyon Ministries at the Southern Baptist Annual Meeting has me thinking about geology in a different way than I usually do. Out West, geology is obvious. You stand on the rim of the Grand Canyon and the rocks are right there in front of you, stacked in massive layers like a giant open book. In the West, you see cliffs, canyons, faults, folds, desert

Nate Loper - February 10, 2026   To understand the Appalachians properly, we have to step back far enough to see not just a mountain range, but a world that was once unified, later broken apart, and reshaped by catastrophic events.   A World That Was Once Whole There are landscapes that feel settled, as though their story is complete the moment you arrive. The Appalachian Mountains are not like that. They stretch on quietly, ridge after ridge, forested and familiar, until the repetition itself begins to ask questions. Why do these

A recent article from Phys.org announced the discovery of exquisitely preserved Cambrian fossils in the Grand Canyon’s Bright Angel Formation. These fossils include soft-bodied creatures like worms, crustaceans, and mollusk-like animals, preserved with stunning detail. Secular scientists are interpreting this find as evidence of a thriving ecosystem that existed some 500 million years ago, providing a window into what they call the "Cambrian Explosion"—a period of rapid evolutionary diversification in the distant past. As Christians who hold to the authority of Scripture and a young earth, global Flood model,

Luke Wayne - March 07, 2025   The splendor and importance of this fossilized arbor is hard to overstate. But how did it get here? Arizona's Ultimate Rock Garden: The Petrified Forest Roughly two hours down I-40 East from Flagstaff, or about fifty miles before you reach the New Mexico border, you’ll find one of Northern Arizona’s true gems—the beautiful mystery of Petrified Forest National Park. In 1906, when the passing of the Antiquities Act first gave U.S. Presidents the power to create National Monuments, Petrified Forest became one of Arizona’s

The very absence of human fossils serves as a powerful reminder of God's declared purpose to "blot out man from the face of the earth" while preserving clear evidence of His judgment through the billions of marine fossils entombed in the rock layers. The Missing Humans: Understanding the Fossil Record Through a Biblical Lens When examining the rock layers of the Grand Canyon and other geological formations worldwide, a common question arises: "Why don't we find human fossils in the rock layers laid down by the Flood?" The answer reveals

Whereas catastrophic conditions such as rapid burial and an oxygen-free environment facilitate fossil preservation, today's oceans do not support such phenomena. Within the sedimentary layers of the Grand Canyon lies compelling evidence of a cataclysmic event—a plethora of marine ocean fossils. These fossils, scattered and fractured throughout the canyon's strata, provide tangible clues to the monumental deluge that once reshaped our planet. The discovery of marine fossils and the conditions in which we find them within the Grand Canyon prompts a reconsideration of the prevailing theories regarding its geological history.

Over the past 24 years of exploring and sharing the Grand Canyon, we have gotten to know it pretty well. Adventure awaits around every corner, and we love seeing the faces of our guests light up as we take them into its many hidden treasures. Of course, marveling over the beauty of this place is only part of our objective. We want to see everyone marvel over our Creator as we examine the powerful evidence of a global Flood as described in the Bible. What we see in

The Genesis Flood and the Grand Canyon By Dr. John C. Whitcomb Norma and I will never forget rafting almost 100 miles down the lower Colorado River on a Canyon Ministries trip in early September, 2006, with twenty-eight friends under the leadership of Tom Vail. We were absolutely amazed at the sight of thousands of feet of enormous superimposed layers (strata) of rock, filled with billions of fossilized and marvelously preserved marine life! I was raised in a home where biblical creationism was never taught. At Princeton University, I took two

Let’s look at one piece of evidence found in the canyon that supports the Flood model. To me, one of the strongest and most dramatic evidences of these layers being flood deposits is the folding found in the sedimentary layers. Folds, as the geologist call them, are places where the rocks have been bent instead of fractured as you would see along a fault line. Some of these folds are 300 feet high and cross the boundaries of multiple formations. There are several places in the canyon where sediment

"The Wave" in Northern Arizona I recently had the enormous privilege of visiting the "Wave" in Northern Arizona.  No doubt many of you have seen the flood of images I have shared in various social media forms.  In spite of all that, I couldn't help but share it at least one more time.  Please visit https://youtu.be/OjEiO6D5mzQ?list=UUDVjTUg7S-yh9JQakFcbRsA to watch a video of me walking through the this incredible sandstone formation. The patterns left behind in the Navajo Sandstone are water currents preserved in time.  The swirling lines of stone indicate tremendously powerful hydraulics and
